Jean Ciborowski Fahey PhD
Jean Ciborowski Fahey is the Director of the Weymouth, Massachusetts South Shore Health Systems Reading Partnership, an early literacy education program for parents, expectant parents and others who live and work with young children. She is the author of the innovative picture-book for parents, Make Time for Reading: a story guide for parents of babies and young children.
Formerly, as the Early Literacy Research Specialist at the national office of pediatrician’s Reach Out and Read, she also taught in the graduate Language and Literacy Program at Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. She spent 10 years as a Family Literacy Consultant with the Massachusetts Family Literacy Consortium.
During 15 years of work at Boston Children’s Hospital, and Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, she tested children for reading difficulties. She served as educational advocate with Boston Center for Homeless Families, authored Textbooks and the Students Who Can’t Read Them and produced Raising Readers a film published on getreadytoread.org. She was lead author of the handbook: Promoting Social and Emotional Health Through Early Literacy.
In 2016, Jean won the National Center for Families Learning Toyota Teacher of Year, $20,000 award to continue her work with parents of babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
